Mark 82 Lug Cutout

The Mark 82 500 lb. bomb casing, shown here in the 1970s, requires hand work to attach mounting lugs.  First produced in the mid 1960s by IMCO, General Dynamics Garland predecessor, for use in Vietnam, they can now be upgraded by guidance systems from ‘dumb’ to ‘smart’ bombs.  Since the mid-1990s GD has been the sole Mark 82 casings supplier for U. S. armed forces, and today they also supply many NATO countries.
