IMCO Penguin Hair Dryer

Penguin floor-standing ‘helmet’ hair dryers were manufactured by Intercontinental Manufacturing Co. during the ‘50s and ‘60s for commercial use in ‘beauty parlors.’ Some also claimed their effectivness against head lice and ear wax. IMCO had acquired Southern Aircraft Corporation’s facilities in 1948, continuing the redirection of wartime manufacturing resources toward peacetime production.
