Tank baptism was common in rural areas when this image was made during the ‘teens, before even churches in the “full-immersion” tradition built indoor facilities for the practice. Early baptism in the present Garland area occurred either in pools of Duck Creek and later in Pickett’s Tank, a spring-fed reservoir East of present First St. near the MK&T crossing. (2008-32)
