On the Rails

The Katy bridge across Duck Creek alongside State St.west of N. Garland Ave., now consists of two vintage steel pony-truss sections. The eastern unit, installed here ca. 1895, was combined with a duplicate, moved in 1999 from a rail crossing on White Rock Creek to span the widened Duck Creek channel. Dallas Area Rapid Transit managed the project in anticipation of rail service to downtown Garland in the spring of 2002.
